There was a surprise result in Mar del Plata where fifteenth rankedPenarol (12-17) won against higher ranked Obera (15-15) 74-57 on Thursday. It was a great evening for American forward Diamon Simpson (204-1987, college: SMC) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 17 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Al Thornton (203-1983, college: FSU, agency: BIG) helped adding 19 points and 7 rebounds. Four Penarol players scored in double figures. Swingman Jonatan Torresi (190-1994) responded with 16 points and point guard Juan Laterza (180-1997) scored 8 points and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Penarol moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Independ.O. Loser Obera keeps the tenth position with 15 games lost.
