Regular Season Round 8: Bayamon - Carolina 100-98

A very close game took place in Bayamon between Vaqueros and Gigantes. Third ranked Vaqueros (3-2) got a very close home victory over 5th ranked Gigantes (2-5). Vaqueros managed to escape with a 2-point win 100-98 on Wednesday evening. The best player for the winners was American point guard QJ Peterson (183-1994, college: VMI) who scored 34 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds. South Sudanese center Wenyen Gabriel (208-1997, college: Kentucky) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Scottie James Jr (202-1996, college: Liberty, agency: Pensack Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds and the former international David Huertas (196-1987, college: Ole Miss) added 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bayamon maintains third position with 3-2 record having five points less than leader Mayaguez. Defending champion Carolina keeps the fifth place with five games lost. They share the position with Manati. Bayamon will meet at home league's second-placed Caguas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Carolina will have a break next round.
