Regular Season Round 9: Ponta Grossa - Catanduva 64-59

Ponta Grossa can celebrate finally their first win this season after 11 consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Catanduva (2-11) 64-59. It was a good game for Colombian guard Manuela Rios (165-1997) who led her team to a victory with 26 points and 7 assists. The former international center Nadia Colhado (193-1989) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Center Barbara Bazilio (185-1991) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Fernanda Sena (177-1994) added 18 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Catanduva. Newly promoted Ponta Grossa maintains eleventh place with 1-11 record. It was Catanduva's fourth loss in a row. They keep the tenth position with 11 games lost. Ponta Grossa will play against higher ranked Blumenau (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Catanduva will play against Campinas (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
