Regular Season Round 16: Leon - Jaguares 56-161

Bottom-rankedLeon (0-20) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 161-56 loss to third ranked Jaguares (15-3) in Leon. They also forced 32 Leon turnovers and outrebounded them 60-30 including a 25-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Jaguares players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Leon 's players. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Mario Garcia (182-2000) who helped to win the game recording 70 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Lesther Castillo (-2003) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals for the winners. Jaguares' coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Wiron Mendieta replied with 16 points and 8 rebounds and Reynaldo Melendez added 12 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Leon. Five Jaguares and four Leon players scored in double figures. Jaguares have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 15-3 record having just two points less than leader Brumas. Leon at the other side still closes the standings.
