There was no surprise when 8th rankedSao Jose (4-8) was crushed on the road by third ranked Ituano (11-2) 93-72 on Sunday. Ituano made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. Ituano had a 36-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Sao Jose 's players. Power forward Gabriela De Paula (180-1996) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winners and the former international point guard Joice Rodrigues (174-1986) chipped in 11 points, 8 rebounds and 15 assists. Four Ituano players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was center Juliana Souza (185-1999) with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds and the former international forward Nany Carvalho (188-1997, college: Kansas) scored 20 points and 4 steals. Sao Jose's coach Leandro Leal gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Ituano . They moved-up to second place. Sao Jose lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with eight games lost.
