Not a big story in a game when 5th rankedLeones (4-4) lost to first ranked Capitanes (9-1) in Arecibo 77-87 on Friday. It was an exceptional evening for the former international Alfonso Plummer (185-1997, college: Illinois) who led the winners and scored 22 points and 4 assists. Dominican Victor Liz (190-1986, agency: BMS Sport Agency) accounted for 18 points for the winning side. Naturalized Nicaraguan Jared Ruiz (188-1992) came up with 16 points and 7 assists and American forward Jamil Wilson (201-1990, college: Marquette) added 8 points and 5 assists respectively for Ponce in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Capitanes have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Arecibo maintains first place with 9-1 record. Loser Leones dropped to the fourth position with four games lost.
