There was no surprise when 5th rankedVenados (16-16) were defeated on the road by third ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (20-12) 88-71 on Sunday. Hermosillo had a 35-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The former international guard Karim Rodriguez (196-1988) scored 19 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American forward AJ John (202-1996, college: UC Davis, agency: MSG) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. American guard Jeff Ledbetter (191-1988, college: Idaho, agency: Slash Sports) responded with 13 points and 7 assists and his fellow American import forward Terrence Thompson (203-1994, college: Wake Forest) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hermosillo maintains third position with 20-12 record having seven points less than leader Astros. Loser Venados keeps the fifth place with 16 games lost. They share the position with Obregon.
