Very significant wasAmbato S. 's (#2, 10-4) victory against 3rd placed Iccan (5-9) 94-73 . Ambato S. dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Iccan 's 40. Ambato S. forced 21 Iccan turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for guard Bady Alvarez (188-2004) who led the winners and scored 36 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. Forward Darwim Saenz accounted for 25 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Guard Yussephe Castaneda (185-2000) came up with 23 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Larry Johnson (193-1992, college: Clarion) added 22 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Iccan in the defeat. Iccan's coach Wilson Gonzalez gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Ambato S. . They maintain second place with 10-4 record having just two points less than leader Santa Maria. Iccan lost their third game in a row. They keep the third position with nine games lost.
