Very expected game when 6th rankedSantiagueno (2-4) was smashed on the road by top-ranked Metapan (5-0) 79-51 on Sunday. American point guard Britney Jones (174-1987, college: UAB) notched 13 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the effort and Cuban center Yayma Boulet (193-1984) supported her with 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Four Metapan players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 14 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists by Mexican Gema Roa did not help to save the game for Santiagueno . Guatemalan point guard Astrid Garcia (165-1995) added 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Metapan have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 5-0 record behind leader San Salvador. Loser Santiagueno keeps the sixth place with four games lost.
