Leones made 26-of-33 free shots (78.8 percent) during the game, while Criollos only scored six points from the stripe. American forward Kenneth Faried (203-1989, college: Morehead St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 7 points and 18 rebounds. The former international point guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Four Leones players scored in double figures. American forward Louis King (201-1999, college: Oregon) replied with 22 points and 9 rebounds and Panamanian-American center Akil Mitchell (206-1992, college: Virginia) added 12 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Criollos. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
