Regular Season Round 10: Ahuachapan - Santiagueno 88-77

Ahuachapan has finally registered their first victory this season after nine consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Santiagueno (2-8) 88-77 on Saturday. Ahuachapan looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Cuban guard Elianis Armenteros (175-2000) scored 27 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Cuban point guard Dairis Tornell (176-1992) chipped in 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side Guatemalan point guard Astrid Garcia (165-1995) responded with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals and Mexican Gema Roa scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. Ahuachapan maintains ninth position with 1-9 record. It was Santiagueno's fifth loss in a row. They keep the seventh place with eight games lost. Ahuachapan are looking forward to face higher ranked Salvadorenas 2 (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Santiagueno will have a break next round.
