The game had a very big importance for third-rankedCosta Caribe as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Costa Caribe defeated their biggest opponent Jaguares in Managua 76-70 . Costa Caribe outrebounded Jaguares 52-40 including a 18-6 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Puerto Rican Luis Lopez (, college: PR-Mayaguez) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds, 13 assists and 4 steals and international forward Troy Andrews (196-2000) who added 12 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. Four Costa Caribe players scored in double figures. At the losing side international forward Josmel Martinez (198-1999, college: Broward CC, agency: BMS Sport Agency) responded with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and international Kevin Andino (186-2002) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Costa Caribe have a solid four-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Jaguares at the other side still keep top place with three games lost.
