Regular Season Round 6: Metapan - Santa Tecla 98-77

There was no surprise when 9th rankedSanta Tecla (1-4) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Metapan (3-1) 98-77 on Friday. Metapan forced 23 Santa Tecla turnovers and had a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Metapan looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Puerto Rican forward Xavier Zambrana (193-1991) had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Cuban forward Yoel Cubillas (204-1994) chipped in 30 points and 19 rebounds during the contest. Four Metapan players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Honduran Francisco Forbs (198-1999) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds and forward Alejandro Barahona (189-1999) scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Metapan have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Loser Santa Tecla keeps the ninth position with four games lost.
