Rather expected game when 6th rankedLares (4-7) lost to third ranked Atenienses (7-4) in Manati 62-76 on Wednesday. Manati outrebounded Lares 53-33 including a 36-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Manati made 7 blocks. The winners were led by American forward DreUna Edwards (183, college: Baylor) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points, 16 rebounds and 6 blocks and the other American import swingman Kaitlyn Davis (188-2001, college: USC) supported her with 6 points and 16 rebounds. Four Atenienses players scored in double figures. Even 14 points and 8 rebounds by the former international forward Mariah Perez (191-2000, college: Dayton) did not help to save the game for Lares . Naturalized American guard Ariel Colon (178, college: FIU) added 12 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Manati moved-up to second place, which they share with Morovis. Lares at the other side keep the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with Isabela.
