Third ranked Mexican hostPioneras (1-2) defeated one of their biggest challengers Salvadorean Salvadorenas (0-3) 53-39 . The game without a history. Pioneras led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Salvadorenas to just 5 points in third quarter. Pioneras held Salvadorenas to an opponent 20.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 29.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Center Jazmin Valenzuela (187-1989) notched 13 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and American forward AJah Davis (185, college: Seton Hall) supported her with 8 points and 10 rebounds. Even 15 points and 6 rebounds by Cuban Anisleidys Galindo (181-1989) did not help to save the game for Salvadorenas . American center Brandi Harvey-Carr (193-1994, college: Pittsburgh) added 8 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. It was the only win of host team this round and in all other games visitors recorded victories. Pioneras maintains third position with 1-2 record having just two points less than leader Phoenix, which they share with Ferro. It was Salvadorenas ' third loss in a row. They still close the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Malvin.
