There was a minor upset in Bahia Blanca where their close opponent Bahia (1-13) was crushed by tenth ranked Atenas (6-13) 104-83 on Wednesday. Atenas dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Bahia's 42. They outrebounded Bahia 45-28 including a 33-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for point guard Lucas Machuca (185-92) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 5 assists. Swingman Matias Martinez (195-94) helped adding 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Atenas players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Federico Elias (185-99) with 29 points and 5 rebounds and Brazilian point guard Caio Pacheco (189-99, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Bahia's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Atenas moved-up to ninth place. Bahia lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 13 games lost. Atenas will have a break next round. Bahia will play at home against CA Platense (#5) and hope to win that game.
