Regular Season Round 8: Sao Paulo - Paulistano 78-64

Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Sao Paulo: Sao Paulo (#3) and Paulistano (#5). Sao Paulo (11-4) won against visiting Paulistano (8-3) 78-64. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Paulistano. Sao Paulo dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Paulistano's 20 and made 17-of-17 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Lucas Mariano (208-93) who scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF) chipped in 14 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international guard Deryk Ramos (185-94) produced 18 points and 4 assists and Vitao Camilo (203-97) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Paulistano's coach Regis Marrelli rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sao Paulo maintains third position with 11-4 record having just two points less than leader Flamengo. Loser Paulistano keeps the fifth place with three games lost. Sao Paulo's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Sao Paulo .
