Regular Season Round 9: Campo Mourao - Cerrado 66-74

There was a small surprise when fourteenth ranked Cerrado (3-11) won against on the road 12th ranked Campo Mourao (5-10) 74-66 on Friday. Cerrado looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Henrique Coelho (184-93) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 assists. Guard Paulo Da-Costa (193-94) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four Cerrado players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Luizinho Lima (196-93) who recorded 9 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and American guard Anton Cook (189-95, college: SE Oklahoma) added 20 points respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Cerrado maintains fourteenth place with 3-11 record. Campo Mourao at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the eleventh position with ten games lost. Cerrado will face higher ranked Corinthians (#9) in Sao Paulo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
