An interesting game for Brazilian Minas (1-1) which hosted second-ranked Argentinian Instituto (0-1). Third ranked Minas had an easy win 100-85. It was a key game for the second position in Group D. Instituto was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 50-34 second half run of Minas. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American guard David Jackson (190-82, college: Penn St.) stepped up and scored 24 points and 4 assists for the winners and Bahamas David Nesbitt (203-91, college: St.Thomas, FL) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Ronald Jackson Jr. (203-97, college: NC A&T) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and Venezuelan Nestor Colmenares (203-87, college: Campbellsville, agency: Pro Sports) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Minas left bottom position moving up to second place in Group D. Instituto at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. Minas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Instituto will play on the road against the league's leader Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
