Rather expected game when 5th ranked Paschoalotto/Bauru (13-8) was defeated on the road by third ranked Sao Paulo (16-4) 92-84 on Tuesday. Sao Paulo dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Paschoalotto/Bauru's 30. They outrebounded Paschoalotto/Bauru 33-17 including a 26-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for the former international power forward Lucas Mariano (208-93) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds. Naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF) helped adding 20 points and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Alex Garcia (190-80) with 16 points and 9 assists and American power forward Tyrone Curnell (203-88, college: Valdosta St.) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Four Paschoalotto/Bauru players scored in double figures. Sao Paulo have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain third place with 16-4 record behind leader Flamengo. Paschoalotto/Bauru lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with eight games lost. Sao Paulo's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sao Paulo to the arena Paulistano.
