There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Bahia (4-25) won against their close opponent Obera (7-19) in Bahia Blanca 83-79 on Friday. Bahia made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Obera was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Federico Elias (185-99) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 5 rebounds. The former international Fausto Ruesga (199-0) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Four Bahia players scored in double figures. American power forward Anthony Young (200-89, college: KWC) answered with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds and forward Rodrigo Sanchez (200-89) added 20 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Obera. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Bahia maintains tenth place with 4-25 record which they share with defeated Obera. Newly promoted Obera keeps the tenth position with 19 games lost. Bahia will face higher ranked La Union (#6) in Formosa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
