Regular Season Round 16: Paulistano - Sao Paulo 63-71

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Sao Paulo: Sao Paulo (#3) and Paulistano (#4). Paulistano was defeated at home 63-71 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The former international power forward Lucas Mariano (208-93) fired 27 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. The former international power forward Renan Lenz (207-90, college: Utah) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Felipe Ruivo (188-98) produced 21 points and 4 assists and American-Argentinian guard Erik Thomas (195-95, college: New Orleans) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Paulistano's coach Regis Marrelli rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Sao Paulo (17-4) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain third position having just two points less than leader Flamengo. Paulistano at the other side keeps the fourth place with seven games lost. Sao Paulo are looking forward to face league's second-placed Minas in Belo Horizonte in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Paulistano will play at home against the league's leader Flamengo and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
