Very predictable result when second ranked Regatas Corrientes (21-9) defeated at home 8th ranked Penarol (11-17) 81-77 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Regatas Corrientes made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Tayavek Gallizzi (206-93) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and forward Patricio Tabarez (195-91) who added 12 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Regatas Corrientes players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Guido Mariani (193-94, agency: BIG) with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Sundiata Gaines (185-86, college: Georgia) scored 16 points and 5 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Regatas Corrientes maintains second position with 21-9 record having four points less than leader San Lorenzo. Loser Penarol keeps the eighth place with 17 games lost.
