Bottom-ranked Brasilia managed to get a fourth victory on Wednesday night. This time they outleveled thirteenth-ranked Pinheiros in Sao Paulo 97-52. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 45-point difference suggests that Brasilia is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. They also forced 19 Pinheiros turnovers and outrebounded them 50-32 including a 38-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Brasilia looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Pinheiros' players. Center Marcelo Ruediger (206-93, college: Tampa) nailed a double-double by scoring 10 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and American guard Eric Laster (198-93, college: Loyola, MD) accounted for 14 points and 6 rebounds. Five Brasilia players scored in double figures. Brasilia's coach Ricardo de Oliveira felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Point guard Gabriel Campos (179-1) came up with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Joao Capela (185-3) added 12 points respectively for Pinheiros in the defeat. Brasilia maintains sixteenth place with 4-19 record. Pinheiros lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the thirteenth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Caxias do Sul. Brasilia will meet higher ranked Corinthians (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pinheiros will have a break next round.
