Regular Season Round 11: Minas - Instituto 81-84

Argentinian Instituto's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after one consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Belo Horizonte, where they edged Brazilian Minas (1-2) 84-81. Minas were ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 23-16 third quarter run of Instituto. Minas were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Venezuelan Nestor Colmenares (203-87, college: Campbellsville, agency: Pro Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Santiago Scala (187-91) helped adding 21 points and 6 assists. Four Instituto players scored in double figures. Forward Gui Santos (197-2) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and American guard David Jackson (190-82, college: Penn St.) scored 11 points and 7 assists. Instituto (1-1) left bottom position moving up to second place in Group D. Minas at the other side dropped to the bottom position with two games lost. Instituto will play against league's leader Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Minas will have a break next round.
