This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of second-best Argentinian Instituto (1-2) to top-ranked Brazilian Flamengo (2-0) 78-77 on Monday evening. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 14-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for forward Olivinha Rodriguez (202-83) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. American-Mexican guard Luke Martinez (190-90, college: Wyoming, agency: Pro Sports) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Flamengo's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Martin Cuello (193-93) replied with 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Santiago Scala (187-91) added 15 points and 5 assists in the effort for Instituto. Flamengo maintains first position in Group D with 2-0 record. Instituto at the other side dropped to the bottom place with two games lost. They share the position with Minas. Flamengo are looking forward to face league's second-placed Minas in Belo Horizonte in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Instituto will have a break next round.
