An exciting game was played in Machala. Ecuadorian Audaz faced Bolivian Carl A-Z. Host Audaz defeated guests from Oruro 67-62. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-9. But Carl A-Z won second period 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was dominated by American players. Power forward Jacinta Monroe (196-88, college: FSU, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Shacobia Barbee (179-94, college: Georgia) contributed with 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Audaz's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Guard Katrina Pardee (175, college: WVU) replied with 26 points and forward Lydia Baxter (183, college: SHSU) added 5 points and 16 rebounds in the effort for Carl A-Z. Audaz will play against Leonas in Medellin in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Carl A-Z will play on the road against Pastoras de Lara in Barquisimeto and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
