Regular Season Round 14: Flamengo - Minas 70-61

The most interesting game of round 14 was a derby match between two teams from Brazil. The game took place in Rio de Janeiro where top-ranked Flamengo won against visiting Minas (2-4) 70-61. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Minas won third quarter 18-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Forward Marquinhos Vieira (207-84) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 5 assists. Forward Olivinha Rodriguez (202-83) contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Center Ronald Reis (211-91) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and center Joao Paulo Batista (206-81, college: Gonzaga) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Minas. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Flamengo have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record, which they share with San Lorenzo. Minas at the other side keep the second place with four games lost. Flamengo is looking forward to face Instituto (#3) in Cordoba in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Minas will have a break next round.
