Regular Season Round 3: Quetzales - Aztks 54-72

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Quetzales (2-1) in Ciudad de Mexico on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Aztks (3-0) 72-54. Aztks outrebounded Quetzales 48-28 including a 36-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for Cuban center Yayma Boulet (193-84) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. Melissa Gutierrez contributed with 21 points for the winners. Izchel Valdez answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds and Natalia Gonzalez added 18 points in the effort for Quetzales. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aztks will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Quetzales' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face again at home their local rival from Ciudad de Mexico Aztks.
