Regular Season Round 3: Barreteras - Lobas 51-93

An interesting game for Lobas (3-0) which played road game in Zacatecas against Barreteras (0-3). Lobas had an easy win 93-51. Lobas dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Barreteras' 30 and made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Lobas forced 27 Barreteras turnovers and outrebounded them 44-29 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Barreteras' players. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Sandra Vargas (174-97) who scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Maria Faz chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Five Lobas players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Ashanti Hunt (180-96, college: BCU) who recorded 13 points and 7 rebounds and the former international guard Paola Estrada (172-93, agency: DC Sports) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Lobas will have a break next round. Barreteras will play again at home against Lobas and look forward to get finally their first victory.
