Regular Season Round 5: Fantasmas - Santa Ana 84-111

The game in San Vicente supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Santa Ana (5-1) played at the court of 6th ranked Fantasmas (1-3). Santa Ana smashed Fantasmas 111-84 on Monday. Santa Ana dominated down low during the game scoring 90 of its points in the paint compared to Fantasmas' 38. Santa Ana forced 19 Fantasmas turnovers and outrebounded them 56-38 including a 38-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American forward Ron Lawton (196-95, college: NMHU) stepped up and scored 36 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import Eddie Ishman (196-86, college: Miles) chipped in 22 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists. Santa Ana's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Bryan Masel responded with 26 points and 5 rebounds and Luis Rivera scored 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Santa Ana maintains second place with 5-1 record behind leader Santa Tecla. Loser Fantasmas keep the sixth position with three games lost. Santa Ana will meet Cojute (#4) in the next round. Fantasmas will play against Brujos in Izalco and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
