Regular Season Round 12: GUG - Plaza 105-106

Important game to mention about was the one when sixth ranked Plaza (2-7) saved a 1-point derby victory edging one of their biggest challengers GUG (4-4) 106-105 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of GUG. Plaza players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. The winners were led by guard Oliver Garcia (188-96) who scored that evening 40 points (!!!) and 7 assists and Saul Mejia supported him with 14 points, 21 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists by forward Juan Guerrero (205-93) did not help to save the game for GUG. Jose Omeriza added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Plaza moved-up to fifth place. Defending champion GUG keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Plaza will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. GUG's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Santiago to the arena CDP.
