Cupes breezed past GUG in Game 1. Cupes made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 GUG turnovers. Strangely GUG outrebounded Cupes 47-35 including 17 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Cupes made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Juan Miguel Suero (196-93) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Center Luis Santos (203-94, college: St.Louis) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winners. Five Cupes players scored in double figures. Forward Juan Guerrero (205-93) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds and American Jordan Williams (198-92, college: N.Texas, agency: Best of You Sports) added 10 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for GUG. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
