Regular Season Round 21: Lanus - Dep Viedma 88-79

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Dep Viedma (9-3) in Buenos Aires on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by eighth ranked Lanus (6-6) 88-79. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Dep Viedma. American forward Leon Gilmore III (201-95, college: SF Austin) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners and point guard Lucas Perez (184-87) chipped in 13 points and 7 assists. Four Lanus players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was point guard Fermin Thygesen (186-98) with 21 points and 5 assists and Panamanian power forward Jamaal Levy (206-83, college: Wake Forest) scored 9 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Lanus maintains eighth place with 6-6 record. Dep Viedma at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. Lanus are looking forward to face higher ranked Villa Mitre (#4) in Bahia Blanca in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Dep Viedma will play at home against GELP and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
