The game in Torreon was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Mexcaltecas (5-6) played at the court of 5th ranked Algodoneras (1-10). Mexcaltecas managed to secure a 4-point victory 83-79 on Saturday. Mexcaltecas shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Colombian center Narlyn Mosquera (197-89) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. Sofia Payan (167-0) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Mexcaltecas' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Brittany Byrd (175, college: UIC) produced 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import forward Tylinn Carter (185-95, college: Pepperdine) added 10 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Mexcaltecas and four Algodoneras players scored in double figures. Mexcaltecas moved-up to third place, which they share with Barreteras and Escaramuzas. Algodoneras lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team keep the fifth position with ten games lost. Mexcaltecas will have a break next round. Algodoneras will play again at home against Mexcaltecas (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
