Regular Season Round 15: Racers - Algodoneras 86-81

There was no surprise in Saltillo where 5th ranked Algodoneras (1-14) were defeated by second ranked Racers (8-7) 86-81. Racers forced 20 Algodoneras turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by Algodoneras helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for Nicole Millender who led the winners and scored 32 points and 8 rebounds. Montsserrat Castaneda accounted for 14 points and 15 rebounds for the winning side. Four Racers players scored in double figures. American guard Brittany Byrd (175, college: UIC) came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 17 rebounds and Jocelyn Gandara added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Algodoneras in the defeat. Algodoneras' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Racers maintains second place with 8-7 record having six points less than leader Aztks, which they share with Mexcaltecas and Escaramuzas. Algodoneras lost their tenth game in a row. Algodoneras at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the fifth position with 14 games lost. Racers' next round opponent will be again Algodoneras (#5) in Torreon.
