Regular Season Round 16: Aztks - Lobas 72-80

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of Aztks (13-3) in Ciudad de Mexico on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by Lobas (15-1) 80-72. Lobas outrebounded Aztks 44-32 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Jacqueline Luna-Castro (188-93, college: Charleston) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 9 rebounds. Russian forward Julia Gladkova (185-94) contributed with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American guard Briahanna Jackson (168-93, college: Louisville) replied with 30 points and Cuban center Yayma Boulet (193-84) added 16 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Aztks. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lobas have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 15-1 record. Newly promoted Aztks dropped to the second place with three games lost. Lobas are looking forward to face league's second-placed Mexcaltecas in Tepic in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Aztks will play on the road against Escaramuzas in Jalisco and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
