Lobas outgunned Quezales in the opener. Lobas dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Quetzales' 30. Lobas forced 25 Quetzales turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Quetzales' players. Worth to mention a great performance of Senegalese power forward Oumoul Sarr (185-84) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Russian forward Julia Gladkova (185-94) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Four Lobas players scored in double figures. Lobas' coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cuban center Clenia Noblet (190-87) answered with 18 points and 9 rebounds and Cuban forward Yulianne Rodriguez (185-82) added 11 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Quetzales.
