Regular Season Round 6: Guayama - Fajardo 79-60

Very expected game when 6th ranked Cariduros (1-4) were smashed by second ranked Brujos (5-1) in Guayama 79-60 on Friday. Brujos made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Brujos outrebounded Cariduros 42-31 including a 37-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. International swingman Alex Franklin (198-88, college: Siena) notched a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international point guard Javier Gonzalez (185-89, college: NC State, agency: Paris Global Sports) supported him with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Gonzalez is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Brujos players scored in double figures. Even 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by American forward Victor Rudd (206-91, college: S.Florida) did not help to save the game for Cariduros. The former international Gilberto Clavell (200-89, college: SHSU) added 12 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Brujos maintains second position with 5-1 record having just one point less than leader Arecibo. Defending champion Cariduros keep the sixth place with four games lost. Brujos will meet Grises (#5) in the next round. Cariduros will play against Indios in Mayaguez and hope to win that game.
