Regular Season Round 7: Mayaguez - San German 113-111

The most exciting game of round 7 in the BSN took place in Mayaguez. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Atleticos (2-4) to third ranked Indios (4-4) 113-111 on Monday evening. Indios shot 60.3 percent from the field and made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Indios looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for international guard Jaysean Paige (188-94, college: WVU) who led his team to a victory scoring 36 points (!!!) and 4 steals. Naturalized Nicaraguan guard Jared Ruiz (188-92) helped adding 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Indios' coach Flor Melendez used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Nigerian power forward Alade Aminu (207-87, college: Georgia Tech) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds and American Paris Bass (203-95, college: Detroit) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. Four Indios and five Atleticos players scored in double figures. Indios moved-up to second place. Atleticos at the other side keep the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Fajardo and Santurce. Indios are looking forward to face Piratas (#3) in Quebradillas in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Atleticos will play on the road against the league's leader Capitanes in Arecibo and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
