Regular Season Round 8: Mayaguez - Quebradillas 87-92

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Mayaguez. Third ranked Piratas faced second-ranked Indios. Guests from Quebradillas (4-3) defeated host Indios (4-5) 92-87. Piratas made 22-of-24 free shots (91.7 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Tu Holloway (183-89, college: Xavier) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 9 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and international forward Jose Rodriguez (201-92, college: Texas Southern) who added 20 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Piratas players scored in double figures. International guard Jaysean Paige (188-94, college: WVU) responded with 25 points and American center Jessie Govan (211-97, college: Georgetown) scored 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Piratas used an opportunity after Arecibo lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser Indios dropped to the third place with five games lost. Piratas will meet at home league's leader Capitanes in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Indios will play against Grises and hope to secure a win.
