Regular Season Round 9: Arecibo - Quebradillas 92-80

Everything could happen in Arecibo at the game between two tied teams. Both first ranked Capitanes and second-best Piratas had identical 4-3 record. This time Capitanes used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Quebradillas 92-80 on Friday night. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Capitanes dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Piratas' 26 and made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Capitanes looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Naturalized U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) nailed 25 points and 8 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winning side and the former international swingman David Huertas (196-87, college: Ole Miss) accounted for 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Capitanes players scored in double figures. American point guard Tu Holloway (183-89, college: Xavier) came up with 23 points and 4 assists (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!) and the other American import forward Will Daniels (202-86, college: URI) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Piratas in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Capitanes maintains first place with 5-3 record. Loser Piratas dropped to the third position with four games lost. They share it with Santurce. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
