Regular Season Round 9: Humacao - Mayaguez 84-100

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Indios (5-5) beat bottom-ranked Grises (0-6) in Humacao 100-84 on Friday. Indios made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Naturalized Nicaraguan guard Jared Ruiz (188-92) nailed 22 points for the winning side and American center Jessie Govan (211-97, college: Georgetown) accounted for 16 points and 7 rebounds. Indios' coach Flor Melendez used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American forward Brandon McCoy (213-98, college: UNLV) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds and the other American import forward Jonathan Ocasio (195-92, college: New Haven) added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Grises in the defeat. Four Indios and five Grises players scored in double figures. Indios moved-up to second place. Grises lost their sixth game in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost. Indios will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Grises will play against the league's leader Vaqueros (#1) and hope to get finally their first victory.
