Leader Capitanes delivered the sixth victory. This time they beat 5th ranked Gigantes (3-6) 90-86 in Arecibo. Capitanes dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Gigantes' 36. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Nigerian-American power forward Chinemelu Elonu (206-87, college: Texas A&M) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds. American forward Davon Jefferson (204-86, college: USC) contributed with 22 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Capitanes' coach Rafael Cruz allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. International center Timajh Parker-Rivera (202-94, college: Towson) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists and naturalized American Wil Martinez (188-92, college: Fairmont St.) added 24 points in the effort for Gigantes. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Capitanes maintains first place with 6-3 record. Gigantes lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with six games lost. Capitanes will play against league's second-placed Indios in Mayaguez in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gigantes will have a break next round.
