Metros recorded a loss in Santo Domingo. Visitors were rolled over by Leones 83-54. Leones dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Metros' 34. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Metros' players. Forward Juan Guerrero (205-93) stepped up and scored 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and naturalized American Eddy Polanco (190-94, college: SE Louisiana) chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Leones players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Eloy Vargas (211-88, college: Kentucky, agency: Duran International) responded with 10 points and 6 rebounds and guard Brandone Francis (196-94, college: Texas Tech) scored 12 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Leones will play against Caneros in La Romana in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Metros will play at home against Huracanes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
