Regular Season Round 12: Quebradillas - Fajardo 90-88

The most exciting game of round 12 in the BSN took place in Quebradillas. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Cariduros (4-5) to fourth ranked Piratas (5-4) 90-88 in the game for the third place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Cariduros. Piratas made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Cariduros 40-27 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Piratas looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a good game for American point guard Tu Holloway (183-89, college: Xavier) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 assists. The other American import forward Will Daniels (202-86, college: URI) contributed with 26 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Piratas' coach Eddie Casiano used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Dominican guard Rigoberto Mendoza (187-92) replied with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Victor Rudd (206-91, college: S.Florida) added 12 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Cariduros. Four Cariduros players scored in double figures. Piratas moved-up to third place, which they share with Ponce. Defending champion Cariduros dropped to the third position with five games lost. They share it with Guaynabo. Piratas is looking forward to face Cangrejeros (#4) in Santurce in the next round. Cariduros will have a break next round.
