Regular Season Round 1: Metros - Indios 99-90

Metros used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from San Francisco 99-90 on Friday night. Metros dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Indios' 32. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Metros made 9 blocks. Center Eloy Vargas (211-88, college: Kentucky, agency: Duran International) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Adris De Leon (180-84, college: EWU) accounted for 18 points and 4 assists. Naturalized American guard Gerardo Suero (196-89, college: Albany) came up with 21 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized American guard Michael Torres (178-87, college: Miami Dade CC) added 15 points and 6 assists respectively for Indios in the defeat. Five Metros and four Indios players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Metros will meet at home Huracanes in the next round. Indios will play against Reales and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
