There was a minor upset in Carolina where their close opponent Gigantes (4-8) were defeated by fifth ranked Cariduros (5-5) 98-86 on Thursday. Cariduros looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Victor Rudd (206-91, college: S.Florida) fired a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. The former international point guard Alexander Abreu (180-91, college: UWG) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Cariduros players scored in double figures. American Ricky Ledo (201-92, college: Providence) produced 26 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and international center Timajh Parker-Rivera (202-94, college: Towson) added 12 points and 17 rebounds respectively for lost side. Gigantes' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains fifth position with 5-5 record. Loser Gigantes dropped to the fourth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Guaynabo. Cariduros will meet at home league's leader Capitanes in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gigantes will play against the league's second-placed Piratas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
