Sixth-ranked Atleticos (3-13) gave a tough game to second ranked Piratas (9-5) in Quebradillas on Wednesday. Piratas managed to secure only two-point victory 119-117. However their fans expected much easier game. Piratas looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. 28 personal fouls committed by Atleticos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American point guard Tu Holloway (183-89, college: Xavier) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 42 points (!!!) and 10 assists. Naturalized American forward Tyler Polo (201-87, college: CS Los Angeles) helped adding 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Piratas' coach Eddie Casiano used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American Paris Bass (203-95, college: Detroit) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists and the other American import point guard Tjader Fernandez (178-94) scored 24 points and 9 assists. Four Piratas and five Atleticos players scored in double figures. Piratas have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 9-5 record having just three points less than leader Bayamon. Atleticos lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 13 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
