Regular Season Round 20: Humacao - Bayamon 68-122
Date: August 20, 2021
Undefeated leader Vaqueros delivered the fourteenth consecutive victory. This time they crushed bottom-ranked Grises (0-13) 122-68 in Humacao. They outrebounded Grises 49-34 including 36 on the defensive glass. Vaqueros shot the lights out from three nailing 15 long-distance shots on high 62.5 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Grises' players. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. International forward Benito Santiago (197-89, college: Cumberlands) orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all five shots). American forward Kristian Doolittle (201-97, college: Oklahoma, agency: Pensack Sports) contributed with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Vaqueros players scored in double figures. American Jonathan Ocasio (196-92, college: New Haven) replied with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Felix Rivera-Vega (201-97, college: Georgetown, KY, agency: Paris Global Sports) added 14 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Grises. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vaqueros (14-0) have an impressive 14-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with a perfect record of 14 victories in a row. Grises at the other side still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Vaqueros will play against Mets (#4) in Guaynabo in the next round. Grises will play on the road against the league's second-placed Brujos in Guayama and hope to get finally their first victory.
